Registered office addresses explained — and what we offer instead
A plain-English guide to UK registered office addresses for company directors in Wigan and the North West.
Please note: Lesscent House does not provide registered office addresses or director service addresses. We provide a business address for your business correspondence — you keep your own registered office at Companies House.
What is a registered office address?
Every UK limited company and LLP must show a registered office address on the public record at Companies House. It is the address where statutory mail — from Companies House, HMRC and the courts — is legally served on the company.
It must be a real, physical UK address in the same part of the UK where the company is registered (for example, England and Wales), and it must be an address where someone can acknowledge delivery of documents. It appears on the public register, so anyone can search it.
Your registered office does not have to be where you actually work, and it has no effect on where your business is treated as trading for corporation tax or VAT purposes.

- Simple monthly or annual pricing from £40/month, no VAT charged
Who our business address suits
Directors, contractors, consultants, ecommerce sellers and remote teams who want a credible Wigan business address for correspondence and marketing, while keeping their own registered office arrangements in place.
If you specifically need a registered office or director service address on the Companies House record, you will need a Companies House–authorised provider (an HMRC-supervised Trust or Company Service Provider) or your accountant. We are happy to say so up front rather than sell you the wrong thing.
How to change your registered office address
- 1Confirm the new address is valid
It must be a real, physical address in the same UK jurisdiction as your company, and mail delivered there must be capable of being acknowledged. You need the address owner's permission.
- 2File form AD01 at Companies House
Log in to Companies House WebFiling and submit a change of registered office address. It is usually accepted the same working day, and it is free.
- 3Update HMRC and your records
Tell HMRC, your bank, your insurers and your accountant, and update your website, invoices and email footers.
